Design By Humans Lil Wayne Contest – My Top 4

April 24, 2009 | Written by Darren | Category: Contests

Design By Humans has been lighting it up lately with special contests featuring music artists. This is definitely a win-win situation for both the artist and the t-shirt design community because of the collaboration, the fan build up, and high quality of design. Currently, the Lil Wayne contest is up and running and I put together my top four picks.

So far, the artwork to me has been completely hit or miss. Some of these designs are absolute garbage. I’m not sure if that’s a result of people not trying hard enough or just not connecting with the Lil Wayne concept. I guess part of my complaint stems from the artwork being better suited for computer screen wallpapers than for t-shirts. For those that stayed within the artistic boundaries by maintaining the print integrity of spot colors….they really killed it.

Being able to capture the theme of Lil Wayne in just a few colors is the real challenge. Here’s my top four designs that I think are a cut above the rest:

Head over to DBH and vote on your faves. Also, this post is leading into the Shepard Fairey issue of creating artwork from copyrighted images readily found on Google. It could effect you so stay tuned, it will be coming soon…

Interesting picks, Darren. I’m need to check out the rest of the submission at DBH since I haven’t seen any of them yet. I actually think the 1st and the 4th ones work. I don’t really care for the one with all the halftones.
