A Membership Only T-Shirt Site?

July 7, 2009 | Written by Darren | Category: News

Andy at Hide Your Arms just posted a funny little letter to the peeps at SpokenThreads asking them why they would choose to require membership for purchases? I think most of you will agree that selling tees on the interwebs can be hard enough without putting an obstacle at the front of your store/site.

Marketing “exclusivity” can sometimes be a good strategy but this is taking it to a new level. I have to agree with Andy that we would prefer to see and buy the goods freely without the chains of a membership.

Or, maybe Spokenthreads is on to something? I think time will easily tell with the members only requirement being lifted if the sales aren’t flowing in. Good luck to you SpokenThreads and maybe your innovation will start a trend but it is hard to believe that will be the case.

Hopefully we will get the reasoning for this peculiar approach from Andy when the SpokenThreads peeps respond…..

I would agree with you that it is hard enough to sell without that added obstical… I will be keeping my eyeout to see if it is lifted!!! Fair play to them if it works out.
